Beacon builds / For SaaS & product teams

Your app.
Inside ChatGPT.

Bring a useful part of your SaaS product or existing app into ChatGPT. Beacon designs the workflow, connects your systems, builds the experience and prepares it for review.

Built around your product, your accounts and a task worth completing.

Example flow, not a connected customer account.

Start with the job

What would your customer
do here?

Choose the part of your product that becomes easier when someone can ask for it. These are example scopes we can assess with your team.

SaaS & operations

Find the right record. Take the next step.

Let a customer retrieve their project, inspect the relevant details and confirm an update through the permissions they already have.

Analytics & research

Turn a question into a useful report.

Query authorised data, show the result in an interactive view and return a report the user can keep working with.

Creative & document tools

Open the work where the conversation happens.

Bring a supported document or design into a panel, let the user review it and save approved changes back to your product.

From API to experience

A complete build engagement.

Design, engineering, verification and a route to release, with responsibilities agreed before work starts.

01

Find the right workflow

Choose a task your customers already need: find a record, compare options, prepare a report or update a project. Check API access, permissions and platform fit before committing to a build.

You receiveWorkflow brief, feasibility decision and written quote.

02

Build the working connection

Connect your existing backend and account system. Define the actions ChatGPT can take, the data each user can access, and where a clear confirmation is needed.

You receiveMCP integration, account connection and tested task flow.

03

Make it feel like your product

Add an interface where it makes the task easier: an answer card, a panel beside the conversation, or a sidebar app. Scope mentions and file handling when they serve the workflow.

You receiveBranded interface, useful empty states and text fallback.

04

Prepare the release

Test real conversations, failure cases and account boundaries. For a public launch, prepare the plugin package, listing, reviewer access and walkthrough, then support the agreed review rounds.

You receiveAcceptance evidence, submission materials and operating handover.

The right surface

More room for
your product.

Plugin extensions create new ways to use an app within ChatGPT. We select the surfaces that help your workflow and verify them on the accounts and devices in scope.

Platform capabilities checked 9 October 2026. Composer mentions are desktop-only; web extensions for Free and Go are listed as coming soon.

Sidebar app
A dedicated place to open and use your interface.
Conversation panel
Keep a working view beside the conversation.
Mentions & file handling
Bring selected content or supported files into the task.
Account-aware actions
Use your existing backend with server-enforced access and clear confirmation for consequential changes.

A scoped service

Custom scope. Clear milestones.

Bring your app URL, a short API overview and one customer workflow. We’ll work out what belongs in ChatGPT, what needs adapting and what a first release should include.

Agreed in your proposal

  • Workflows, interface and supported surfaces
  • API access, account permissions and data handling
  • Acceptance tests and review support
  • Hosting, ownership, maintenance and costs

Public directory acceptance is OpenAI’s decision. A build does not guarantee discovery, recommendations or revenue. Existing customers can use included paid features; in-plugin digital subscription sales and upsells are outside the current rules.

Before we build

The practical questions.

Can you bring our existing SaaS product into ChatGPT?

Yes, where your product has an authorised API or a backend we can adapt and the use case meets the platform requirements. We start with one useful workflow. Your existing application remains the source of account permissions, records and business rules.

Does this include publishing in the plugin directory?

We can scope package preparation, submission support and review fixes. Your organisation owns the publishing identity and approves publication. OpenAI controls review, acceptance and distribution; we cannot promise approval, placement, recommendations or a launch date before review.

Can existing paying customers use it?

Current OpenAI guidelines allow users to sign in and use features already included in an existing paid account. They prohibit selling or upselling digital subscriptions inside the plugin. We check entitlement handling and the permitted account journey during scoping.

Do all the new extensions work everywhere?

Availability depends on the ChatGPT surface, plan and workspace controls. As checked on 9 October 2026, composer mentions are desktop-only, and web extensions for Free and Go are still described as coming soon. We agree and test the exact supported surfaces.

Can this be private for our team?

Yes, a private workflow can use a custom MCP connection, subject to workspace permissions and security controls. Public directory publication is a separate route. We choose the route during the feasibility review.

Is a build included in visibility monitoring?

No. ChatGPT app and plugin development is a separately scoped engagement. Audits and monitoring measure what assistants say; a build connects an agreed product workflow to an assistant.

What does it cost, and who maintains it?

We quote in US dollars after reviewing your workflow, API, account model and interface needs. The proposal separates design and engineering, launch support, and optional maintenance. Hosting, third-party usage, additional platforms and changes in scope are identified separately. No self-serve subscription or fixed delivery time is promised.
